This is a drawing made plein air in Shizico's Scotland home in early winter 2023. Shizico believes that the act of drawing is a direct way to contour one's life and document how she sees the world around her.

The drawing captures a magical moment under the winter sun light at Shizico Yi's Scotland home. Painted plein air, the scene unfolds  against the backdrop of trees outside the windows while the wild birds landed in her garden enjoy the foods at her bird feeders. The artwork transforms daily moments into wonderment and peaceful quietude, offering a glimpse into the serene beauty of everyday life during the winter season.

The interplay of light, the comforting presence of the natural surroundings create a captivating narrative that elevates the ordinary to the extraordinary.

Drawings are the most intimate works to Shizico Yi. Every line is her way to touch each fine grain of a thing, therefore , a drawing contours a person's life and one's memory.

A distinctive and signature element in Shizico's artistic repertoire is the use of gilded gold. This visual language becomes an instrument through which she plays with space, imparting an effect reminiscent of Japanese block prints and Kintsugi(金継ぎ), the art of "golden joinery." The incorporation of gold adds a fresh language to the drawing, introducing another dimension that deepens the fascination inherent in Shizico's work.
