[ Morning Archive ]
306 pictures taken in 4 years, winter 2010-May 13th 2014
[Morning Archive]
The project stretched across 4 years ; the main body of the [ Morning Archive] was taken from Oct 2013 to May 2014.
The process to get these images of Morning Archive is my profound poetic debate on human existence.
These pictures are my internal murmurs for survival. Each picture of drying dishes is the left over memory from the night before.
Through the whole project, I give these memories a space to become matter itself, then, there is a possibility I can be as I am supposed to be.
As being an observer and the observed for a long stretch of time in this project,
the observed I (actor) can be free from the actor–observer bias.
The observer “I” is also learning from observing the actor “I” everyday;
these two ends pull the "I" in balance;
if not, “I” tends to fall back into the memory which has certain power to affect the life I live in.
Through the repeating process,
life begins to form an order,
through this created order,
I can start to control the chaos in life
or at least,
this created illusion of order gives comfort to chaotic life itself.

[Genesis ] is a process of applying something “old” (etching technic) to a new concept. The results are a series of mono etchings [Genesis] and
an object [ Mother ]
The concept is building 18 different days of [ Morning Archive] drawings in a single zinc plate to create mono-etchings. This process pushed me trying new ways of making etching images each day.
The racked etching plate is treated as an artifact which involved an additional 5 layers ( over 2 weeks) of strong acid and hand-cut process.
The concept and process of [Genesis] and [Mother] is a metaphor of a person’s life evolving and transforming through time.

About Morning Archive
" I believe in memory.
Memory shapes a person.
I am also a deeply religious nonbeliever.
The memory and the objects related to it give weight to a person.
It becomes matters effecting the present moments
This body of work is dealing with the loss of family members and a tragic childhood
which defined the first decades of my being
Through this project,
I give these memories a space to become matter itself
then there is a possibility I can be as I am supposed to be.
The making of these projects is a way of exorcising the memories. "

The concept of [ Morning Archive project] was to develop a 4-year-long period of research. Morning Archive was a spectrum of mediums and approaches; from making objects, etching, animated film and sound recording to realising the final art works as a unified installation.
[Morning Archive] was a concept to deal with and comment on the meaning of the mundane in human life and its inevitable repetitive nature through taking photos of piles of drying dishes next to the kitchen sink on hundreds of mornings across the years. Morning Archive is a meditation on time and space and its relationship to human existence. Based on 308 pictures taken across 4 years, I developed this 2D project into 3D space, making pots and pans into monumental shapes and forms to occupy a real space.
This project was also the documentary of the transformation of a life. This concept was then further developed into an etching project which gave birth to a body of mono etching prints and an object (the final wrecked zinc plate). This etching project [ Genesis ] was the result of 18 days of drawing then translating onto the same zinc etching plate to create new images from the process of each layering.
